About 817-825 Dundas Street ERivertowne Townhomes

Soon after being cleared by the city in 2002, this prime location at 1-35 Florence Wyle Lane and 70-90 Munro Street became highly sought after. Fortunately, Intracorp developed the land with support from the City of Toronto and the Ontario government, and the result is brilliant: the Rivertowne Condos breathe fresh life into the former site of the Don Mount complex. A project similar to the revitalization of Regent Park, these Toronto townhouses at 1-35 Florence Wyle and 70-90 Munro showcase a real commitment to developing affordable, top-quality homes.

Completed in 2011, the complex consists of a number of low-rise buildings, the tallest of which is 4 storeys high. In order to keep the atmosphere of this community vibrant, the complex’s brick buildings are thoughtfully spread out, allowing space for both a public park and yard, as well as a collection of townhomes which make up the Rivertowne condos.

Designed by Kearns Mancini, the buildings themselves are quite charming. Consistent with the traditional residential architecture in the Riverdale neighbourhood, the townhomes feature a symmetrical design and a generous array of windows. Distinguished dark metal balconies culminate in a triangular gable, cultivating charm reminiscent of country homes.

Finally, the community living in the Rivertowne Condos is already quite active, even without an extensive set of amenities. Rather, the wide landscaped boulevards and courtyards, as well as the Joel Weeks Park, make for a friendly social environment. As a result people in the community often organize events, from basketball programs to salsa dancing and even an annual neighbourhood barbecue. And for those who love to play host, residents can make use of the building’s welcoming party room.

    The Suites

Catering to a diversity of residents, the 187 suites located in this complex range from one to five bedrooms, including some wheelchair accessible living spaces. The Toronto condos for sale within range in size from around 650 to over 1,200 square feet, with some homes even spread out over 3 storeys. Moreover, living spaces often extend out onto private patios and rooftop terraces, allowing all the suites to feel comfortable and expansive.

With the goal of revitalizing the surrounding area in mind, the condos’ interior designers appointed the suites with tasteful modern fixtures and finishes. As a result, the suites boasts bright and fresh atmospheres: large windows bring in lots of natural light, and residents enjoy high quality stainless steel kitchen appliances and ensuite laundry.

    The Neighbourhood

Residents of Rivertowne Condos are well located: the condos are situated between Dundas Street East and Queen East in the Leslieville & South Riverdale neighbourhood. While the community in Rivertowne cultivates a vibrant family-friendly social scene, there are also exciting commercial districts along Gerrard East, a block north, and even more so on Queen East, which is a short walk south of the condos.

Not only are there plenty of eclectic boutiques along Queen East, but countless creative restaurants also cater to the diverse palettes living in the neighbourhood. Additionally, there are even many cultural attractions along Queen East, such as the historic Opera House. Despite its name, this live performance venue at the corner of Queen and Lewis Street is renowned for showcasing many emerging contemporary musicians.

    Transportation

Getting around the city is quite easy for those living at 1-35 Florence Wyle and 70-90 Munro — even without a car. For those heading toward the downtown core or throughout the east end, travelers can hop onto the 501 Streetcar, which heads east and west along Queen Street.

Alternatively, the 505 Dundas Streetcar is also nearby. This service carries riders west through the Downtown Core, and turns north before heading up to Broadview Station. As such, the 505 Streetcar best serves those with destinations farther from home, as it takes riders to the Bloor-Danforth subway in about five minutes.

Even still, if the 505 is ever untimely, there’s also the 504 King Streetcar which heads north along Broadview and offers riders a connection to the subway. It also happens to pass right by the Rivertowne Condos, and makes stops at both Queen and Dundas.

Finally, for those who prefer to drive, residents are very well situated. Their homes are close to where the Don Valley Parkway meets the Gardiner Expressway: getting on the fast-track north through the city or west toward the downtown core takes only a few minutes. Drivers can reach the DVP via Thompson Street, while access to the Gardiner is found off Lakeshore Boulevard East, just west of Carlaw Avenue.
