About 525 Logan AvenuePrinters Row Lofts

Trying to find authentic Toronto lofts in Leslieville & South Riverdale can be something akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. Fortunately, the hard lofts at 525 Logan Avenue are here to assist anyone searching for heritage and style within a charming, family friendly neighbourhood.

The Printers Row Lofts is not merely a loft to be settled on, however. These 12 homes, set within a historic frame, were designed by award winning developer Bob Mitchell of Mitchell Lofts. Built in 1911 by architect W.F. Carmichael, the traditional, rectangular red brick structure at 525 Logan Avenue was originally home to the headquarters of Bell Telephone.

The building was later repurposed, functioning as a printing press churching out plans for ABSO Blueprints. It was not until 2001 that Mitchell had his shot at carving character-rich yet updated homes out of the existing structure. The result was like a breath of fresh air for the neighbourhood — 12 modish hard lofts appeared amidst a myriad of single- and semi-detached homes. Upon its completion, Toronto Star architecture critic Christopher Hume even granted the Printers Row Lofts an A rating.

    The Suites

In this low-rise building, Toronto condos for sale comprise multiple levels each. Lofts span two or three storeys, and some even boast a rare mezzanine style with offices or dens perched above communal living spaces. Some three-storey units feature top floor master bedrooms with access to the roof, where private terraces can be found. From up top, residents can gaze southward for sweeping views of the Toronto skyline.

Sizes range from around 930 to 1,700 square feet. Every unit at 525 Logan Avenue is furnished with some form of outdoor space, whether rooftop terraces or ground floor gardens. Many of these lofts are endowed with fireplaces, and some have ceilings reaching all the way up to 17-feet high.

As evidence of the building’s heritage, some century-old elements have been carefully preserved. Original terracotta and concrete floors can be found throughout the Printers Row Lofts. Coincidentally, these floors are 18-inches thick, serving a secondary purpose of sound reduction.

    The Neighbourhood

With their homes on a charming, tree-lined, residential street, residents of the Printers Row Lofts benefits from a peace and tranquility that is rare in a metropolis like Toronto. From right in the centre of Riverdale, the lofts at 525 Logan Avenue are surrounded by entertainment and amenities. At the same time, these homes are nestled deep within a welcoming and dynamic tight-knit community.

The Printers Row Lofts are also situated between two ethnic enclaves: Greektown on the Danforth and Little India on Gerrard. On either of these streets, residents can explore authentic culinary delights from faraway countries without leaving the neighbourhood. These homes are also surrounded by some of the city’s best green space, such as Riverdale and Withrow Parks.

    Transportation

The Printers Row Lofts are located nearby to the Don Valley Parkway, which can be accessed via Danforth Avenue. From here, drivers can connect with the 401 to the north or the Gardiner Expressway to the south.

With a streetcar stop at the corner of Logan and Gerrard, residents won’t have to walk very far at all to access the TTC. Streetcars run along Gerrard Street East toward Gerrard station on the Yonge subway line, while Broadview Avenue streetcars offer a great option for north-south travel as well.
