About 510 King Street ECorktown District II Lofts

With a slogan like “rethink urban living,” the developers behind the Corktown District I Lofts promise to create more than just homes. The structure at 510 King Street East comprises phase II of this strategic revival of the Corktown neighbourhood spearheaded by the award winning Streetcar Developments.

From the exterior, cool, understated grey brick is juxtaposed with futuristic steel and glass, reflecting the area around it — Corktown - Toronto hovers in limbo between past and present, simultaneously embracing both old and new.

Streetcar developments is known to build in neighbourhoods that are rich in culture, creating appeal for forward thinking and open minded residents. In Corktown this pattern has evolved into a snowball effect of sorts, with these new creative neighbours bringing even more vibrancy and new life back into the area.

At only 8 storeys tall, the Corktown District II Lofts are spread out horizontally, blending pleasantly with their surroundings. Out of the nearly 200 units completed in 2012, 182 are soft lofts found within the main building, with 10 consisting of separate “lofthouses.”

While Corktown offers locals plenty of amenities and sources of entertainment, the Corktown District II Lofts have a few special facilities of their own — only for residents and their guests to enjoy. The building features a shared rooftop outfitted to entertain, exercise facilities, a lounge and billiards room, and a penthouse party area, to name a few.

    The Suites

The Toronto condos for sale at 510 King Street East are modern elegance incarnate. These open concept soft lofts feature contemporary fixings in kitchens and bathrooms, while embracing emblematic loft qualities such as concrete floors, towering ceiling heights, and massive windows.

These lofts vary from around 400 to 1,800 square feet, catering to the diverse array of Torontonians whose interests may have been piqued by the Corktown District II Lofts. At 510 King East, smaller spaces are available to single professionals or those with slightly tighter budgets, while even a small family will be comfortable in some of the larger lofts. As an additional option to consider, Streetcar Developments posits that the lofthouses would make for an ideal live/work space, and these boast rooftop terraces of their own to boot.

In terms of layout, units come in two options: one bedroom or two. Ceilings generally reach around 10 feet high, and the majority of the lofts boast either balconies or terraces. Regardless of outdoor space, natural sunlight pours through massive windows in every loft at 510 King Street East.

    The Neighbourhood

Corktown is an area that benefits from its deep-seated history as well as its more recent renaissance. Irish settlers who found work in the numerous breweries and brickyards nearby first inhabited the neighbourhood back in the 1800’s. Current Corktown locals taking a stroll around the neighbourhood can still admire the charming cottages once dwelled in by these former residents, especially on Bright or Trinity Streets.

In the recent past Corktown has experienced quite a revitalization, and today the area is a rich pocket of creativity, dynamism, and close-knit neighbours. Corktown’s heritage can still be explored by paying a visit to the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse or St. Paul’s Catholic School, which are amongst some of the oldest educational institutions in the city. More innovative entertainment comes in the form of the 2013-built Corktown Common, a landscaped area containing boardwalks and trails, a splash pad, and a pavilion with common barbecue for the public to enjoy.

    Transportation

Located just beside the intersection of Queen and King Streets East, both of these major arterial roads will come in great handy for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and TTC riders alike. Residents can travel quickly and painlessly to neighbouring areas such as The Beaches, St. Lawrence, the Distillery District, and more.

For those who commonly rely on public transit for further travel about the city, streetcars along King and Queen will become a necessary part of one’s daily routine. These routes provide passengers access to King and Queen stations on the Yonge subway line.

Drivers can access both the Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway in minutes, both of which are fast-moving routes for travel throughout the city and beyond.
