About 250 Wellington Street W — Icon II
The Icon I Condos, built in 2002, were so iconic that the city clearly needed more. As a result, Tridel happily built the Icon II Condos the following year, located just next door at 250 Wellington Street West. Following in its predecessor’s footsteps, the Icon II Condos have been pleasing residents and impressing their guests for nearly two decades now.
In fact, the building reaches to 18 storeys tall — climbing 6 storeys higher than the Icon I Condos. Perhaps this really says something about the demand for homes in the complex. Still, the edifice at 250 Wellington West doesn’t overwhelm the King West neighbourhood with height, and nor does it need to.
While the classic red brick, steel, and glass façade is truly something to admire — it’s traditional and timeless all rolled into one — it’s the amenities that are the true selling point for the younger demographic that has been so attracted to the building.
Not only are the standard amenities available to residents living at 250 Wellington West — a gym, concierge, and visitor parking — but it only gets better from there. Residents can also make use of a cyber lounge, perfect for millennials who work in the gig economy, and there’s on-site bicycle parking for those who plan to commute to work in an eco-friendly manner. Catering to the younger demographic that gravitates toward the building, the Icon II Condos also has a significant online presence.
Retail shops can also be found along the ground level of the building, adding a level of convenience not found in all residential buildings. The gym at the Icon II Condos features a swimming pool and cedar saunas, and to top it all off (literally), the building boasts an enviable rooftop terrace with barbecues for all to share.
The Suites
With 304 units spread out over the 18-storey building at 250 Wellington West, all sorts of prospective buyers can find what they are looking for. Suites range in size from approximately 450 to around 1,900 square feet, yet all of the downtown Toronto condos for sale in the building boast a warm and welcoming vibe.
The warmth can undoubtedly be attributed to the large windows that usher natural lighting into the suites at 250 Wellington West. Those who love spending time outdoors can even do so from the comfort of their own homes — all of the units in the building feature balconies, whether Juliet or walk-out. Unfortunately barbecues aren’t permitted in theses spaces, but thankfully grill-offs can be held on the common terrace up on the roof.
The living spaces are minimalist and sleek, thanks to open concept floor plans and clean lines throughout. Elevating these spaces just a touch, though, are elegant details like hardwood floors, 8-9 foot ceilings, and marble window sills.
And while living rooms and bedrooms are luxurious, things are kicked up a notch in the bathrooms and kitchens. The former boasts deep soaker tubs, marble countertops, and ceramic tile floors, while kitchens at 250 Wellington West boast Whirlpool appliances, granite counters, and ceramic backsplashes.
The Neighbourhood
It would be shocking if a resident ever complained about living between two exciting neighbourhoods: King West and the Entertainment District. This is because there is truly something for everyone here. Even those who love to escape city life now and then are situated close to Lake Ontario with its green parks and balmy beaches — and the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport for those who literally want to get out of town.
But the immediate area surrounding the Icon II Condos has so much to offer, meaning most residents will be happy to spend much of their spare time here. King Street offers some of the best choices in the city for elegant — and upscale — dining and drinking, while the Entertainment District is the place to go for large-scale sporting events and concerts.
Even those who prefer to stay in and cook will love the locale of the Icon II Condos: the Fresh and Wild Food Market takes about 6 minutes to reach on foot, while a 15-minute walk will land one at the expansive Loblaws over at Queen and Portland.
Transportation
Even the dreaded morning commute is made easier by simply living at 250 Wellington West. Residents can easily head out to reach all areas of the city, by car or bicycle, on foot, or even if one pleases, by ferry or plane.
Those who frequent the TTC can head to King in order to catch a streetcar that will carry travelers toward the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line. Alternatively, those looking to ride east or west along the Bloor-Danforth line can use the northbound Spadina streetcars to reach Spadina Station.
Not only can drivers utilize major arterial roads like Spadina and Front to get around with ease, but the Gardiner Expressway is also just minutes away, accessible via Spadina.
