    About 25 Oxley StreetGlas

You guessed it, the Glas Condos features a ton of glass. But thankfully, the high gloss, glass and steel exterior is hardly another typical glass tower.

Sitting at a comfortable — humble, even — 16 storeys, the condos at 25 Oxley Street embody a refreshing take on this ever-popular building material. Rectangular panes are broken up by elegant, dark stainless steel, with black brick making appearances in a couple of spots.

With almost 10 years of experience under their belt at the time, Lamb Development Corp took on this project in 2009. Lamb’s website states that the building’s “clean unfettered elegance…is a nod to the urban industrial fabric that still can be seen throughout the area.”

And while the façade might point to the area’s history, the amenities afforded to its residents speak to the lifestyle of the modern urban homeowner.

Busy residents need not leave the home for a workout, thanks to the gym located within 25 Oxley Street. The Glas Condos also boast a meeting room, party room, guest suites, parking, security, barbecues, each adding a layer of comfort and convenience for its residents.

    The Suites

Many of the units at 25 Oxley are soft lofts, with a handful of multi-level, townhouse-style suites available. These mezzanine units even offer their owners direct access to the street and direct entry to their own private garages.

In total, 163 units inhabit the Glas Condos. These range from one bedroom units, ideal for single buyers or couples, to larger homes that feature two bedrooms, and even larger penthouses beyond those. Square footage for these King West condos for sale ranges considerably as well, with cozy homes starting at around 400 square feet, and more extravagant ones reaching to approximately 1,900.

Exposed concrete walls and ceilings set the stage, creating a real soft loft vibe. Some units even feature large concrete pillars as well. Other essential loft elements include dramatically high ceilings and open concept layouts.

Even with all the concrete, the homes are bright as can be, thanks to windows that stretch from floor to ceiling. And as one may imagine, corner units are even brighter than the rest. And certain sleek details, such as polished hardwood or laminate flooring and stainless steel appliances, juxtapose nicely with the raw look of the concrete.

Other swoon-worthy aspects of the homes at the Glas Condos include the ultra-modern kitchens, spacious balconies or terraces, and ample closet space. Outdoor spaces are also equipped with gas hookups for barbecues, although the lack of balconies in lower level units means residents will have to use the common grills.

    The Neighbourhood

The Glas Condos are set back on a quiet side street, yet they inhabit the heart of downtown Toronto. This way, residents get the best of both worlds — privacy and excitement, all rolled into one.

The one thing that isn’t an option when living at 25 Oxley Street is boredom. Between King West and Queen West, the Entertainment District, Kensington Market, the Lakeshore, and many more surrounding areas, residents have endless options for how to spend their spare time.

Just around the corner is the TIFF Bell Lightbox, where date night might involve an independent or international film, while those looking to catch a mainstream movie can just as easily head over to the Scotiabank Theatre at Richmond and John.

Outdoorsy types are also in luck, as large green spaces such as Trinity Bellwoods Park, Garrison Common, and Coronation Park, are not too far off. Another way to spend the day outside is to take a stroll around the streets of Kensington Market — stopping off at various vintage stores and global food vendors along the way, of course.

Just around the corner from 25 Oxley Street is the Fresh & Wild Food Market, a great place to stock up before making a home-cooked meal. Alternatively, those looking for more obscure ingredients can try the colossal Loblaws at Queen and Portland.

    Transportation

With Spadina literally steps away from the front doors of the Glas Condos, residents won’t have to travel far to reach the TTC. Streetcars along Spadina will usher passengers south toward Lake Ontario, or north past Kensington Market and into Spadina Station. From here, travelers can catch north-south trains on the Yonge-University-Spadina line, or east-west ones on the Bloor-Danforth line.

Drivers can head south on Spadina until they reach the Gardiner Expressway, a highway that traverses the southern edge of Toronto. From here, a quick trip east will provide an opportunity to transfer onto the Don Valley Parkway, while a westward trip will allow drivers to merge onto the 427.
