About 14 Dewhurst Boulevard — Sunday School Lofts
Thankfully, the lofts at 14 Dewhurst Boulevard in East York are named for their past life rather than how buyers will act in the future. Residents of the Sunday School Lofts aren’t expected to be prim and proper, even if the name might suggest it.
The hard/soft loft hybrid is situated in what used to be Toronto’s Temple Baptist Church. What will remain of the past is the front façade, while some pretty spectacular soft lofts can be found inside. Built in 1925, residents of the Sunday School Lofts get to gaze at the structure’s Georgian Classical architecture before entering their modern homes.
With only 32 Toronto lofts in total — including seven penthouses that cover two storeys each —14 Dewhurst has that added sense of exclusivity built right in. And thanks to Grid Developments and architecture by George Popper, the desirability factor is through the roof.
The Suites
While the structure itself is almost 100 years old, the suites and their finishes are contemporary as can be. Countertops are made of quartz or granite, 10-foot ceilings can be found in main living areas, and homes boast pre-finished engineered hardwood floors. Prospective buyers will also be enticed by 5-foot soaker tubs and stainless steel appliances found in all Toronto condos for sale in this building.
Outdoor spaces are abundant at 14 Dewhurst, with patios, balconies, or terraces among the options. Penthouses are especially impressive at the Sunday School Lofts, thanks to large terraces perfect for sunbathing or dining al fresco.
And to top it all off, a seasoned professional is in charge of the elegant interior design: Andrew Pike of HGTV fame. Those who aren’t aware of his work can catch up by binge-watching Design Superstar Challenge, Design Rivals, and Rooms that Rock.
The Neighbourhood
Anyone who appreciates good food will love living at 14 Dewhurst. Within a short walk, a resident of the Sunday School Lofts will land him or herself on the Danforth — also known as Greek Town.
Outdoor activities aren’t far off either, with Woodbine Beach and Riverdale Park both within walking distance. Errand running is less of a hassle as well, with the Food Basics and Walmart just a short drive or bus ride away at Pape and Gerrard.
Transportation
Donlands Station can be reached in only 2 minutes on foot from the Sunday School Lofts, while Pape Station will take residents about 8 minutes to reach. From here, a westbound ride along the Bloor-Danforth Line will assist passengers in reaching downtown Toronto. Alternatively, drivers can ride along the Danforth in order to reach Bloor Street or the Don Valley Parkway.
