About 1040 The Queensway — Loggia Condos
Who wouldn’t want to live in an award-winning condominium? Anyone who agrees should continue on reading about the Loggia Condos, a 2008-built residential building by Brandy Lane Homes. The mid-rise edifice at 1040 the Queensway is wider than it is tall, and its façade is clad in plenty of glass.
The building contains 174 Toronto condos spread out over 10 storeys, plus retail businesses along the ground level. Residents also have access to a long list of amenities, which can be found in the Loggia Club. For exercise, there’s a gym and indoor resistance pool; for relaxation, there’s a hot tub and sauna; for social gatherings, the building boasts a party room, as well as underground parking with visitor spots; and for added security, the building is staffed by a 24-hour concierge.
The Suites
While some condos are given arbitrary names, the building at 1040 the Queensway was named for an architectural feature: Loggia is an Italian term for a covered balcony or a room with open sides, and of course these rooms can be found within the units. In terms of size, 1040 the Queensway contains one, two, and three bedroom suites, plus some with dens, and Toronto condos for sale here range from around 600 to 1,900 square feet.
Three different layouts are available at 1040 the Queensway, one being the Biancavilla. This style features a Loggia as well as a moveable kitchen island. Another suite style is the Courtyard Town Loft, which covers two storeys. Yet the two bedroom plus den “Siena” suite is what won Brandy Lane Homes their award, with this layout named "Best condo suite design over 750 square feet" from the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association. In this type of unit, residents can access their loggia from three different rooms: the living room, the kitchen, and the master bedroom.
And what could be the best feature of all: If you can't find a unit for sale or rent at Loggia Condos then you can always check out Loggia II Condos.
The Neighbourhood
Islington & City Centre West is a well-rounded neighbourhood, with just enough action and plenty of peaceful parks. Living at 1040 the Queensway means always being a quick away from Lake Ontario. Once here, residents can explore Colonel Samuel Smith Park year round: summertime visitors can practice their sailing skills at the Lakeshore Yacht Club, while winter weather calls for ice skating on the park’s figure-8 trail.
On rainy days, Islington and City Centre West residents can often be found perusing the stores in Sherway Gardens or checking out the latest Hollywood hit at the Cineplex Cinemas across the street. And while the No Frills just down the street comes in handy for residents living at 1040 the Queensway, having a Costco and an IKEA so close at hand is all the more exciting. The latter takes 4 minutes to reach by car, while the former is just 3 minutes away.
Transportation
Living in Islington and City Centre West doesn’t require access to a car. Residents of 1040 The Queensway can get around the immediate area as well as visit downtown Toronto by using the TTC. The 80 Queensway bus is often the first part of a journey into the downtown core. Once on this bus, passengers can transfer onto the 501 streetcar at the South Kingsway. From there, the 501 will carry residents toward both Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
As for residents who do drive, living so close to the Gardiner Expressway comes in handy. This major highway can be used to reach various neighbourhoods in Toronto, as well as the 427 to the west.
